New Registrations

I’ve been informed of a few new registered members.

First off,I’d like to apologize for not keeping this a little more current. (The winter weather operations can really mess with getting other things accomplished.)

Secondly,we would welcome new contributions to this site. Send me an e-mail with your opinion,issue,announcement,etc.,etc.

WELCOME 1058 MEMBERS!

I would like to start by saying “thank you” to Chet Lashock and Josh Webb for starting up our AFSCME 1058 website! I think this is a very important tool for communicating with our members. I encourage everyone reading this to go back to work and encourage fellow union members to log on to this website and register. Since taking over as president, one of the things that needed improvement was communicating current information. When I updated some bulletin boards, we had information on them dating back to the 1990s! I would like for all of our members to get involved by updating bulletin boards, attending council meetings, becoming a steward, or to just pass on information about the current events of their own divisions/sections. It is also very important to attend our union meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. We have designed new AFSCME 1058 T-shirts and anyone actively involved in the union will receive a free shirt. I’ve really enjoyed the enthusiasm of the members I’ve spoken to since becoming president. In the past, I think the President has carried so much of the burden of running the local, but I’ve been sharing that responsibility with my executive board, especially my Vice President/Chief Steward, Tony Garcia. Chet Lashock is our recently appointed treasurer, and both Tony and Chet have done a fantastic job. Kathy Morton, our secretary, has also done an excellent job at HeadStart as our lead steward. Thank you also to Ned Friel, who is our steward at City Hall, and Owen Carter, RHA, our People chair, for all their hard work and dedication to the union. We still need all of you, our union brothers and sisters, to get involved in the union to make us stronger and more effective. Special Thanks to Jay Ferarro, our staff rep, for being our liason between Council 31 and our local.

In Solidarity,

Garry Cacciapaglia, President AFSCME 1058
